Statement of Faith
Our Foundation
At Ahemet, we seek to follow the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, revealed through the Holy Scriptures and made known through Jesus the Messiah (Yahusha HaMashiach). We desire to honour God's Word, walk in the power of the Holy Spirit, and live lives that reflect His love, grace and truth.
We recognise our roots within the wider Body of Christ and draw inspiration from both the Pentecostal heritage of the Assemblies of God and the biblical insights of the Messianic movement. Our desire is not to promote division, but to encourage believers to grow in faith, unity and devotion to God.
"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path" - Psalm 119:105.
The Holy Scriptures
We believe that the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God. It is trustworthy, authoritative and profitable for teaching, correction and guidance in righteous living.
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness" - 2 Timothy 3:16–17.
The One True God
We believe in one eternal God, the Creator of heaven and earth, who has revealed Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one" - Deuteronomy 6:4.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" - Matthew 28:19.
Jesus the Messiah
We believe that Jesus (Yahusha) is the promised Messiah of Israel and the Saviour of the world. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will return in glory.
"For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus" - 1 Timothy 2:5.
"Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures ... he was buried ... he was raised on the third day" - 1 Corinthians 15:3–4.
Salvation
Salvation We believe that salvation is a gift of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus the Messiah. No one can earn salvation through good works, religious observance or personal merit.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith" - Ephesians 2:8-9.
We believe that all who place their trust in Him are forgiven, reconciled to God and adopted into His family.
"Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" - John 1:12.
The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer, empowering them to live a godly life, grow in spiritual maturity and serve others effectively. We believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit remain active today and are given for the encouragement, strengthening and building up of the Church.
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you." - Acts 1:8.
"Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good" - 1 Corinthians 12:7.
Israel and God's Faithfulness
We believe that God's promises are trustworthy and that His covenant faithfulness is evident throughout Scripture. We honour the Jewish roots of the Christian faith and recognise the significance of Israel in God's redemptive story. At the same time, we affirm the unity of all believers in the Messiah, whether Jewish or Gentile.
"There is neither Jew nor Gentile ... for you are all one in Christ Jesus" - Galatians 3:28.
"For God's gifts and his call are irrevocable" - Romans 11:29.
The Church
We believe that the Church consists of all who trust in Jesus the Messiah. The Church is called to worship God, proclaim the Gospel, make disciples, serve those in need and demonstrate God's love to the world.
"By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another" - John 13:35.
Water Baptism and Communion
We believe that Jesus the Messiah will return personally and visibly. We look forward with hope to the fulfilment of God's Kingdom, the resurrection of the dead and the renewal of all things.
"So Christ ... will appear a second time ... to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him" - Hebrews 9:28.
"Amen. Come, Lord Jesus" - Revelation 22:20.
Our Heart
We desire to walk humbly before God, love one another sincerely, and share the hope of the Gospel with all people. We welcome those who are exploring faith, seeking truth or longing for a deeper relationship with God.
"What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God" - Micah 6:8.
