Faith Through Fire: Ruth’s Journey of Healing and Hope
The Beginning of Trials
In March 2013, Ruth began experiencing dizziness and headaches, which led to the discovery of a lump in her neck. After multiple tests and two surgeries, she was diagnosed with follicular thyroid cancer. Despite the fear of complications, Ruth clung to God’s promise in Deuteronomy 31:8: “The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you.” Her faith carried her through surgery and radioactive iodine treatment in December 2013, which successfully eradicated the cancer.
New Challenges
After cancer treatment, Ruth developed Dermatographia in 2014, a rare skin condition causing severe itching and welts. In 2016, she faced pelvic endometriosis, resulting in unbearable pain and heavy bleeding. Doctors warned that a hysterectomy might be necessary, but Ruth delayed surgery, relying on medication and prayer. Despite these struggles, she continued her studies and graduated with honours, proving that perseverance and faith can overcome adversity.
Life-Threatening Moyamoya Disease
In late 2018, Ruth began suffering from severe headaches and weakness. After extensive tests, she was diagnosed with Moyamoya disease, a rare brain condition causing blocked arteries and risk of stroke. She underwent two major brain bypass surgeries, on August 22, 2019, and June 29, 2021, to restore blood flow. Each operation carried significant risks, yet Ruth trusted God’s word in Exodus 15:26: “I am the Lord who heals you.” Her recovery was slow but miraculous.
Victory and Gratitude
In November 2021, Ruth finally underwent a hysterectomy and oophorectomy to address worsening endometriosis. Today, she lives with osteoporosis and other side effects but remains strong in spirit. Her testimony is a living proof of Psalm 103:3: “He heals all your diseases.” Through cancer, chronic illness, and brain surgery, Ruth’s story shines as a beacon of hope, reminding us that faith, courage, and God’s grace can turn the darkest valleys into paths of victory.
